At this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, which celebrated its 100th anniversary, a number of MEDITE TRICOYA’s customers’ products were on show.
Customers at the show included MOD105, HSP Garden Building, Oxford Planters, The Garden Trellis Company Ltd and Gaze Burvill. Each uses MEDITE TRICOYA for its extreme durability in external conditions.
The Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show, which takes place at London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea, ran from 21st – 25th May. Attended by 157,000 visitors each year, the show has become an important venue for watching emerging gardening trends where new plants are launched and the popularity of older varieties revived.
MEDITE TRICOYA, an extremely durable MDF, which is widely used by MOD105, HSP Garden Building, Oxford Planters, The Garden Trellis Company Ltd and Gaze Burvill, is well suited to external applications as well as internal applications too. The acetylation process of the wood naturally alters its chemical structure, so that the resulting product is not affected by moisture in the same way as other wood products. This gives it its extreme durability and its ability to provide a 50-year guarantee, all of which are underpinned by BRE coordinated test results to EN350-2 of 1 (the equivalent of oak). The panel also has all the versatile machining properties of environmentally sound MDF.
MOD105 designs, fabricates and installs innovative, eco-friendly modular buildings with a difference. Paul Cameron of MOD105 commented, “We have utilised MEDITE TRICOYA now for nine months and we are extremely pleased with how it performs. It was great to be able to present our buildings at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show where the MEDITE TRICOYA material played an important role. The show provided the ideal platform to not only show our design capabilities but to also provide customers or potential customers with detailed information on the material used.” For Oxford Planters, its products have been used at a number of Chelsea Flower Shows by plant breeder, Raymond Everson. Not only does MEDITE TRICOYA offer the ideal solution for an exterior product such as this but for Raymond Everson specifically, the planters can be machined in various shapes and sprayed to meet its individual design requirements at the Chelsea Flower Show. Also at the show, HSP Garden Buildings, which moved over to using MEDITE TRICOYA having previously worked with birch plywood, had its bespoke gazebo and buildings featured by The Cutting Edge Collection. In addition, the Garden Trellis Company Ltd, which uses MEDITE TRICOYA for both planters and fence panels, had its planters on display at the show. The final customer of MEDITE TRICOYA’s at the Chelsea Flower Show was Gaze Burvill. Gaze Burvill designs outdoor furniture, which boasts exceptional comfort, lasting quality and beauty. They used MEDITE TRICOYA, laminated with a high-pressure laminate, for all the carcassing material in its cabinets.
Peter Clifton, MEDITE TRICOYA Product Manager commented, “It was great to see so many of our customers’ products at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. The wide-ranging use of the material really is a testament to its exceptional flexibility and how its extreme durability makes it the ideal choice for so many applications, both internally and externally.”
