Children In Need Special

Coillte Panel Products has donated over 600m2 of SMARTPLY OSB 3 for the refurbishment and extension of the Norris Green Youth Centre in Liverpool as part of a Children In Need special edition of the BBC's ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’.

Based in one of the most deprived areas of Liverpool, the Norris Green Youth Centre is a beacon of hope within the community, committed to offering young people from the area an equal chance to achieve and gain positive life experiences. For Children In Need the local community, trades and companies have pulled together restore the youth centre and provide better facilities.

The project, hosted by Nick Knowles and run by the DIY SOS team, would have ordinarily taken months to complete but was finished in just ten days and relied completely on the generosity of local tradesmen and companies. The 600m2 of SMARTPLY OSB 3 donated by Coillte Panel Products with the assistance of G E Robinson was used to replace the internal ceiling within the centre. ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’ attracts around 6 million viewers in its prime time slot. The one-off special for ‘Children in Need’ is the biggest project DIY SOS has ever taken on. Being owned by Coillte, the Irish forestry and forest products company means that SMARTPLY is able to use Coilte’s FSC certified forest resources to make their products with security of supply.
