Leading manufacturers of engineered wood panels, MEDITE - SMARTPLY have been announced as stand sponsors for a major new feature at Ecobuild 2016. DISCOVER, will be a social hub showcasing one of the UK’s premier architectural awards shortlist, a national initiative to find the next eco-innovator and a platform for future materials.
Featuring a new improved layout and increased capacity conference arena for 2016, Ecobuild has also been themed to focus on Homes, Architecture and Next Generation across its three days. As leaders in both innovation and sustainability, the MEDITE MDF and SMARTPLY OSB brands are aligned with the ethos of the event and provide the perfect partners for the new DISCOVER destination. Designed and manufactured for a variety of structural and non-structural applications, SMARTPLY OSB and MEDITE MDF offer unrivalled quality, performance and versatility. They also offer environmental certification and the assurance of raw material supply from locally-grown sustainable forests – making them ideal for developments with sustainability at their core. To reinforce the event’s new focus on design and next generation solutions, DISCOVER will be staging a competition with MEDITE - SMARTPLY. It will challenge students from architecture school The Bartlett to create a highly engaging design for the area.
The winning design will maximise the use of sustainable materials, including MEDITE MDF and SMARTPLY OSB, whilst minimising environmental impact and demonstrating how materials will be disposed of responsibly after the event. As a showcase for forward-thinking construction, DISCOVER will also be displaying shortlisted entries from the BD Architect of the Year awards. It will also provide a platform for the Big Innovation Pitch 2016 and feature a central bar and networking space to provide a social hub for the show. MEDITE - SMARTPLY Marketing Manager, Mike Harrison, commented: “As a company committed to environmental and corporate sustainability, Ecobuild is perfectly aligned with our own ethos. With the design competition it’s going to be exciting to see how students use our high performance products to create a stunning feature that minimises waste together with considerations for potential post-exhibition use for elements of the design.” “The DISCOVER feature is set to become a hugely popular destination for Ecobuild 2016,” he added. “We are looking forward to demonstrating the performance and installation benefits that our MEDITE and SMARTPLY product ranges can offer to the next generation of architects, designers and contractors.” For further information about Ecobuild 2016 which takes place from 8th to 10th March at London’s ExCeL, please visit www.discoverSMARTPLY.com/ecobuild
