Irish Timber Supply

As you may be aware, there has been a lot of discussion in the press recently about a potential disruption to timber supply in Ireland, due to the issues with felling licences.

In the bigger picture, Ireland’s timber supply is already increasing dramatically, however the administration side has not kept pace. The recent media coverage is just the latest in an ongoing campaign by all the stakeholders in the industry to streamline processes and systems . The Forest Industry body is using the opportunity of a new government to ramp up the political pressure.

Thanks to our parent company, Coillte, being custodians of 7% of Ireland’s land, they are better placed than many private suppliers to offer security of supply to MEDITE SMARTPLY, ensuring that we in turn, can continue to supply our customers. As a state forestry company, we are very close to Government policy and are actively working with Government agencies at a senior level to improve the relevant processes.

MS procurement team have been actively managing the situation for the last 6-9 months; successfully without disruption to our supply and in order to ensure that we can continue to do so. MEDITE SMARTPLY is fully confident of its continued supply.
