It was only right that we were so highly involved in the event, especially on the digital side, as environmentally conscious manufacturers of sustainable construction materials we want to continue to spearhead forward thinking in the built environment.
Given the nature of the event, we thought it apt to put our ground-breaking MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME (MTX) in the spotlight. This weather resistant modified wood panel is guaranteed for 50 years of external use, which is opening up new possibilities for designers who are realising new and exciting projects while meeting impressive environmental credentials.
One of the main attractions to the stand was our charity competition. We asked visitors to land coins onto pieces of floating MTX to demonstrate its durability in wet, external environments. If competitors landed their coins on a piece of MTX, they were entered into a prize draw where they had the chance to win a trip to Ireland!
We’re delighted to announce that Roger and Kate from Absolute Architecture were the winners of the prize draw and we hope they enjoy their trip to Ireland!
The money from the competition was donated to Bankside Open Spaces Trust, which creates spaces that benefit the local community within a small built-up area of central London.
But, it wasn’t just the competition which supported this great cause!
To further demonstrate the design possibilities of our MTX, we patterned with Edible Bus Stop to create a series of hexagonal planters that sat within an indoor garden park: The Hive Pocket Park. The planters were placed in the Sustainability Showcase area during the event, but are currently being transported to Marlborough Sports Garden near London Bridge to provide a free, accessible space for the local community to make use of.
Edible Bus Stop, who put the planters together for this project, are helping to tackle childhood obesity across deprived communities. The park will accompany a new football pitch to allow local children to exercise, socialise and relax. Our MTX was perfect for the purpose of the planters given its 25-year guarantee when in contact with soil.
