Flame retardant panels are integral if enhanced fire protection is required, particularly in commercial buildings where there is the potential for many more people to be gathered in one place. A flame retardant panel has a much lower burn temperature after ignition, and crucially, a slower char rate, so the panel burns far more predictably and provides more time for occupants to leave the building in an emergency. Our SMARTPLY MAX FR B panels provide enhanced fire protection for numerous applications.

SMARTPLY MAX FR B OSB/3 has the same structural and moisture resistant properties as other our original SMARTPLY MAX OSB/3, with one fundamental difference: outstanding and reliable reaction to fire properties.

It is treated with a water-based, non-toxic flame retardant solution during the manufacturing process, providing enhanced fire protection throughout the thickness of the panel.

Similarly to our other SMARTPLY products, this wood-based panel is independently certified for the most demanding structural applications in construction. This covers wall sheathing, flooring, and roofing – making it an ideal product for commercial and public buildings.

SMARTPLY MAX FR B is also suitable for general free-standing applications where enhanced reaction to fire is required. This includes fire protection during construction, site security hoarding, furniture, general joinery, and exhibition stands. Its versatility and flame retardant properties make it an outstanding panel for retail environments, museums and office buildings.

If you are an architect, engineer or main contractor with a responsibility to ensure your project achieves a certain LEED, BREEAM or WELL Standard sustainability certification and improved fire performance is required, then SMARTPLY MAX FR B can help you do this. As with rest of the SMARTPLY OSB range, it is manufactured using FSC certified timber from our sustainably managed forests, contributing to an overall more sustainable building.
