Timber Frame

Timber frame building

Our SMARTPLY MAX OSB/3 and ULTIMA OSB/4 panels are ideal for timber frame applications, their strength and moisture resistance make them the ultimate choice when looking for a structural solution for both large and small scale house building projects.

OSB used for timber frame building

Our structural SMARTPLY MAX and ULTIMA range can be produced on large scale formats up to 2.8m wide by 7.5m long and to a maximum thickness of 40mm making quick work of walls, floors and rooves for offsite construction projects.

SMARTPLY AIRTIGHT is designed for use as internal structural sheathing on the warm side of the insulation in timber frame construction systems, it works alongside breathable MEDITE VENT for the structure of a Passivhaus building.

Flame retardant OSB

Flame retardant wood panels have been developed specifically for use in fire-rated applications where a Euroclass B or a Euroclass C material is required under the Building Regulations. In order to specify these panels correctly and effectively, a good understanding of the technology used, certifications and testing is required.

Chapter 5: Benefits of MAX FR B and PREMIER FR

SMARTPLY MAX FR B panel is a structural, moisture resistant OSB/3 panel with outstanding and reliable reaction to fire properties. Ideal for use where strength, moisture resistance and improved flame retardance are paramount. SMARTPLY MAX FR B achieves a Reaction to Fire Classification of B-s2, d0, and Bfl-s1 (flooring) in accordance with EN13501-1.

SMARTPLY MAX FR B complies with the performance requirements in the Structural Timber Associations “Design guide to separating distances during construction” for timber frame buildings above 600m² total floor area. SMARTPLY MAX FR B can be used in a timber frame building when mitigation measures are required due to the distance from neighbouring buildings.
