German Emissions Testing

On 01.01.20, Germany announced a new method for measuring formaldehyde emissions from wood-based materials: EN 16516. Although the EU has not yet opted to action a harmonised approach, this is a country directive that will affect any customers supplying directly into Germany.

The new test method follows the EN 717-1 standard but uses a different test chamber loading factor which changes the way in which the results are calculated. This effectively halves emissions from 0.1ppm* to 0.05ppm. MEDITE SMARTPLY’s Factory Process Control will be correlated in line with this chamber.

MEDITE SMARTPLY are pleased to confirm that the majority of products comply with the above testing requirements to enable you to continue to offer this to your customers. All testing is well underway and we are confident that certification will be available in due course.
