At the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025, MEDITE SMARTPLY showcased the versatility and sustainability of its wood-based panel solutions by supporting two outstanding garden installations. As a leading manufacturer of innovative, sustainable materials, MEDITE SMARTPLY played a key role in bringing both the Gold Medal-winning Glasshouse Garden and the Silver Gilt Medal-winning Hospitalfield Arts Garden to life.
Transforming Design with Purpose
The Glasshouse Garden, designed by award-winning horticultural designer Jo Thompson, is a powerful celebration of the transformative impact of horticulture on rehabilitation. Supported by the Glasshouse Programme, which helps women nearing the end of prison sentences with horticultural training and employment, the garden aims to provide a second chance through growth and nature. This immersive, sensorial garden will eventually be relocated to a women’s prison in the South of England.
MEDITE SMARTPLY’s products were selected for their superior performance and aesthetic appeal. SMARTPLY SITEPROTECT, with a bespoke Dulux coating, was used to create boundary screening, while MEDITE TRIMAX featured in the functional storage structure. Both materials were chosen for their durability, weather resistance, and suitability for premium exterior applications.

Inspiration from Scotland’s Coastline
The Hospitalfield Arts Garden, designed by Nigel Dunnett, draws inspiration from the coastal sand dunes of Scotland’s east coast. This dynamic garden is designed to support artistic practice, contemplation, and education, featuring a central ‘artist bothy’ studio and sculptural dune features. The space is designed to be more than just a garden; it’s a place where creativity and nature intersect.
MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME, a high-performance MDF panel, was used for the garden’s boundary and sculptural elements. Coated with an iron-filled stain to mirror the natural geology, MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME was the ideal material for this exposed, coastal-inspired garden.
