Key Responsibilities
- Adopt a joint approach to both quality and R&D ensuring that all Product, Process and R&D activities are fully compliant with all the relevant specification quality and regulatory standards.
- Develop and standardise robust processes and systems supported by the application of IMS methodology using best practice tools and techniques for products and processes.
- Develop and empower the technical team to deliver the company’s R&D strategy
- Provide technical & R&D leadership for the production of cost-efficient quality assured products
- Collaborate across all sectors of the business to develop and refresh the R&D strategy
- Provide product technical advice and support to S&M team and customers.
- Lead the preparation of technical guidance documentation for all company products.
- Lead the development and protection of product and process Intellectual Property
- Keep up to date with pertinent industry sector scientific research and developments related to wood sector through developing a network of external contacts & 3rd party partners
Typical Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum third level qualified in a relevant discipline. HETAC level 8 science qualification
- Proven experience in both quality assurance and an R&D focused approach to the delivery of brand led innovative products.
- Strong leadership & project management skills, self-motivated, with proven ability to deliver results under pressure.
- Knowledge of forest products manufacture and specification requirements of wood-based panels coupled with building regulations and construction practices.
- Effective communicator with a collaborative and an outward looking approach, market led, open to new ideas and opportunities.
- High energy and commitment.
