MEDITE SMARTPLY has launched a collaboration with creative vocational school SintLucas. Students will be given a few months to work on their own local MEDITE Makes It Real project. This week we held a briefing to kick off the challenge to make something from MDF that strengthens neighborhood bonding in the new Eindhoven neighborhood of te Veld.
Project goal
SintLucas is a renowned educational institution from Eindhoven and Boxtel that focuses on the creative sector and prepares students for a range of professions ranging from interior design to photography and ceramic styling. In collaboration with MEDITE SMARTPLY, the students will work to connect future Buurtschap te Veld residents.
Buurtschap te Veld
In this new Eindhoven neighborhood, 670 sustainable modular homes are being built in a green environment. The residents of the neighborhood are diverse, from students to the elderly and expats. The goal of the neighborhood is to provide a nice and comfortable home in an affordable and sustainable way. A contemporary interpretation of a hamlet is being created. What cannot be missed in such a neighborhood is neighborhood bonding; this is where the collaboration between SintLucas and MEDITE SMARTPLY comes in.
René Siebum, the teacher supervising the project at SintLucas: "We like to be hands-on in the assignments we give our students. The collaboration with MEDITE SMARTPLY therefore fits well. We can introduce students to different materials and also let them work on a concrete assignment with local impact."
MEDITE Makes It Real
With the MEDITE Makes It Real campaign, the brand challenges makers to get to work with MDF. MEDITE SMARTPLY values boundless creativity and therefore finds it important to give a new generation of creatives the opportunity to develop their skills. The collaboration with SintLucas expresses this ambition.
"We are delighted with the collaboration and are curious about the students' creative concepts. We take this opportunity to show the new generation how far wood-based board material is in terms of innovation and sustainability," says Chris King Managing Director - Commercial at MEDITE SMARTPLY.
Project planning
Approximately 10 students will work on their design from November through February. Upon completion of the project, students will deliver their design during a final presentation at materials library Broeinest. The entire creative process of the students will be recorded by MEDITE SMARTPLY and shared through various channels. Through this, other creators are also inspired and challenged to share their own creations on the MEDITE Makes It Real platform.
