MEDITE SMARTPLY has become known for adapting products and services to suit end users’ needs, while maintaining a consistent stance on sustainability and creating environmentally conscientious products that add value throughout the supply chain.
Both SMARTPLY OSB and MEDITE MDF are made from sustainable, FSC® certified, fast-growing timber: the forest thinnings of new-growth pine and spruce. Each range boasts some of the most environmentally efficient building materials on the market, with product specific type 3 EPDs to demonstrate this, offering an impartial third-party evaluation, for peace of mind for any specifying architect, contractor or engineer.
Our EPDs are carried out by Eco Review using Eco Chain LCA software, and published by the Irish Green Building Council, whose EPD programme allows manufacturers of construction products to provide third party verified transparent information on the environmental impacts of their products. In this way, specifiers are able to source products with relevant, product specific EPDs and other information such as responsible procurement or declaration of healthy ingredients, with ease and confidence.
All our MEDITE SMARTPLY products are carbon negative when they leave our sites. CO2 is stored in the panels from the point of manufacturing and stays locked in the panels for the life span of the building they are used within.
SMARTPLY OSB panels are fully certified, structurally approved and CE marked, legally sourced and sustainable. We set the standard in fire performance, structural integrity and largescale projects.
Furthermore to this, all our OSB products are manufactured with no added formaldehyde as standard. This means that when working closely with our products, contractors can rest assured that each panel contains only the naturally occurring formaldehyde found in wood and the natural environment. This is part of our aim to better enable the continued conscious creation of safe, healthy indoor environments for building occupants.
When it comes to our MDF, all our products either meet the stringent CARB 2 standard for formaldehyde emissions, or are made with no added formaldehyde entirely, for extra sensitive applications.
