The Acetylation Process
MEDITE TRICOYA EXTREME is manufactured using acetylated wood fibres, a process that fundamentally changes how the material behaves in challenging environments.
At a molecular level, the natural structure of wood contains hydroxyl groups that attract and absorb water. During acetylation, these groups are replaced with acetyl groups using acetic anhydride. This transformation significantly reduces the wood’s ability to absorb moisture.
The process is permanent and occurs throughout the entire fibre, not just at the surface.
