Green Building Certifications

For developers, publicly displaying ‘green’ credentials is fast becoming a must to win new business, while work on both new buildings and renovations now come with preoccupations over the sustainability of a project, the products used, and the health and wellbeing of the eventual occupants.

It has also led to the formal recognition of many developers and contractors by prestigious environmental building standards, such as the International WELL Building Institute’s WELL Building Standard, BREEAM and LEED, aiming to encourage more businesses to be more conscientious and to build for the future.

Our portfolio contains LEED, BREEAM, WELL and HPI certified projects.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building certification system which is internationally recognised. As a third party verification body, it assesses the design and construction of a building based on performance metrics.

The environmental building standard BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is one of the world’s leading sustainability assessment methods for construction. Awarding credits for use of FSC certified building products, it recognises and reflects the value in higher performing products and projects across the built environment lifecycle.

WELL is the leading tool for advancing health and well-being in buildings globally.

HPI (The Home Performance Index) is a certification from the Irish Green Building Council, providing a label for quality sustainable residential development complementing existing schemes used in the commercial sector such as BREEAM and LEED.

How can incorporating MEDITE SMARTPLY products into your build up help achieve sustainable building solutions?

All MEDITE products are CARB2 compliant, while all SMARTPLY products have no added formaldehyde; both are created with safety, compliance and quality in mind. Everything is sustainably produced from FSC certified timber and guaranteed to have a totally transparent supply chain; just one of the criteria that BREEAM in particular awards credits for.

Public buildings such as schools and hospitals, as well as offices, social housing and high-density apartment buildings have immediate need for such specialist products. Any developer, architect or contractor working on such a project has the opportunity to become part of a more conscientious community of construction professionals building for the future, with the health and wellbeing of their building’s occupants in mind.
