HR Manager

MEDITE, Clonmel & SMARTPLY, Waterford, Ireland

Responsibilities:

Leadership 

  • Drive a high performance culture with people at its centre and with high levels of staff engagement. Provide leadership and guidance to all people managers so they are aware of their role in creating a people-focused, modern, diverse and inclusive culture.
  • Liaise effectively with Coillte Group (parent company) to ensure all Group requirements are fully met.
  • Oversight of the payroll function for Ireland, UK and Europe.  

HR Policies and Positioning

  • Develop HR policies & procedures ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation relating to employment, while also ensuring that the policies are attractive, progressive and business aligned.
  • Advise on HR Policies and consult with front-line management on Medite Smartply policies and best practices.

Organisation Design and Talent Management

  • Play a key part with outside organisations, colleges and bodies to influence the external market to deliver long term sustainable people solutions for Medite Smartply. 
  • Oversee the recruitment processes to ensure they are effective and attractive.
  • Plan and lead the development of suitable learning and development processes to deliver company-wide business success and career fulfilment. 

Employee and Industrial Relations

  • Lead the management of employee and industrial relations for MEDITE SMARTPLY including union negotiations, grievance & disciplinary cases and representation of MEDITE or SMARTPLY at third parties etc.
  • Proactively deliver a comprehensive sounding board and service to people managers across MEDITE SMARTPLY on all matters relating to employee and industrial relations.
  • Support the UK sales & marketing office in all HR related activity.

Staff Engagement 

  • Develop the Medite Smartply culture to ensure that employees are engaged and that core Medite Smartply and Coillte values are embedded. 
  • Develop effective internal communication channels for managers and staff that engender high levels of trust and confidence. 

People, Leadership, Organisation, Culture 

  • Manage, coach and develop the HR teams in Medite and in Smartply while helping them to develop and support ever-increasing ownership of people matters by line managers.
  • Ensure the HR function can deliver quality data analytics about its people for the business. Analyse and present key insights to the Director of HR & Sustainability, MEDITE SMARTPLY and the leadership team as required.
  • Partner with the Director of HR & Sustainability, MEDITE SMARTPLY and wider group HR team to execute the People Strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance HR processes and drive their implementation.

Desired Technical/Professional Competencies:

  • Education and Experience: HR degree or relevant equivalent qualification and at least 3 years’ experience working in a senior HR role in a manufacturing environment.
  • HR Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience of employee relations, employment law, talent management, people development, change management, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Industrial Relations Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience of industrial relations including working through the various state dispute resolution agencies.
  • Disposition: Strong people-centred approach and mindset, combined with relevant knowledge of best practices in successful people-focused organisations.
